About me
DORK is a one person operation based in Canada’s capital city, Ottawa.
I have a passion for art and athletics, which has taken me on different adventures. I worked fighting forest fires out west which was physically difficult but exciting and rewarding opportunity. In our downtime, I would illustrate and design t-shirts for the crew. Eventually this lead me to pursue a degree in Graphic Design at Algonquin College.
COVID hit right as I graduated and many organizations and businesses shifted to work-from-home. Fortunately, I landed an in store graphic design job at Whole Foods here in Ottawa. My primary duty was to hand illustrate signage for events and promotions.
I also managed store decor, health and safety signage and printed assets sent from the global design team to make sure our store adhered to the Whole Foods brand.
Working at Whole Foods highlighted the importance of the customer experience. We enjoy authentic experiences. We want meaningful interactions. This takes time, effort, and energy, but we know it when we see and/or feel it. Creating custom and specialty signs and designs to help bring these type experiences and interactions to life is what brings me happiness and what I enjoy working hard at.
